NOVEMBER TARGETS

WRITING TARGETS
October and November writing has focused on writing friendly letters and small moments based on our personal experiences.  After reading many books by our favorite authors, we have been asking ourselves,
What Do a Good Writers Do?
Good Writers:
1.  Write for an audience
2.  Reread their writing many times
3.  Get ideas and help from other writers
4.  Make their writing make more sense and sound better by adding detail and using more interesting words.

Building our number sense by practicing our number patterns and number facts on the Learning carpet

Time flies when you're having fun!  In 2J we have fun working, learning and playing together EVERYDAY!  The sunshine and warm breezes have called us outdoors on more than one occasion, making wind observations, sketching Linden Meadows, and collecting data about the community of Linden Woods. FEBRUARY UPDATE!!

We're halfway through the school year!  2J, are you ready for the final stretch?
LET'S HOP TO IT!!!!
February is a happening month.  Let's look at upcoming events:
TRI-CONFERENCES
We are an incredible community of learners and we can't wait to share our learning!
VALENTINE'S PARTY
Friday, February 13th will include a day of Valentine math, writing, reading, and games, followed closely with opening valentines and enjoying party snacks in the afternoon.  Class lists have gone home and we ask that children bring valentines for everyone in the class
100 DAY CELEBRATION
The countdown began on the first day of school and we were excited to reach the 100th day of school.  Because of our preparations for tri-conferences we decided to make our official 100th day of school celebration on Tuesday, February 10th.  It's going to be a jam packed day.  We are asking students to bring a 100 collection to school on Tuesday to count and share.  Over the years, many strange and unusual items have found their way into our classroom...shells, marbles, feathers, toy cars, stuffies, pasta, carpet samples, and so on and so on.  Anything goes, so have some fun looking around your house!
I LOVE TO READ MONTH

READING...Happily Ever After
You may have already guessed that this year's theme is Fairy Tales.  The classroom beanstalk reading challenge, finding Cinderella's missing glass slipper in the library, mystery readers and fairy tale riddles are just some of the great activities planned.  On Friday, February 13th students may dress up as their favorite fairy tale character or simply wear red instead.  Don't forget boys and girls, to meet your reading goal of 250 minutes home reading to receive a special reading recognition certificate from the premier of Manitoba!
