This is Chey, Gianni, and Zachary here to tell you what we've been up in our classroom the last few weeks. We've been super busy learning!
OUR TREATY
Did you know that a treaty is like a promise? We read it every morning and promise to be the best that we can be.
MATH
We do Number Talks a lot. Ms. Jordan writes addition and subtraction number sentences. We have to solve them using our strategies.

We've also been using Think Boards to solve story problems. Today's problem was about Zachary and Gianni!
WRITING
We've been increasing our writing stamina.

READING
We stay in one spot, get started right away, and read the whole time to increase our reading stamina.
*We try hard to pick good fit books
*We've been learning lots of strategies to read accurately:
-use beginning, middle, and ending sounds
-chunk letters and sounds together
-skip the word, read on, and then come back
-Today we learned how to flip the sound of the vowel!
SCIENCE
We made our own pinwheels and did wind investigations on a crazy windy day. Did you know that the wind goes into the pockets and pushes the pinwheel to move? The pinwheels went really fast at the side of the school because there was more wind. We could hear them spinning!! The wind blew some pinwheels apart and we had to run and chase them!
SOCIAL STUDIES
On Tuesday, we went on our community walk to collect data about our community. We checked out houses, signs, crosswalks, and lots of services. Linden Woods has a lot of condos, two-storey and multi-level houses. We saw a few bungalows too! Linden Woods likes to keep people safe, that's why we have so many signs and lights. We had a surprise when a construction worker came to talk to us about taking down old lamp posts and redoing them. He worked for Hydro! Hydro is a service.
